In this guide, we will give you information about tips on how to get Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield, especially about the shiny chaining combo for the extra reroll chance! Pokemon Sword and Shield has just been released on November 15th, 2019, so here are some information that we have about Shiny Pokemon in this game.
You Can’t Get Shiny Starter Pokemons
The starter pokemons in Pokemon Sword and Shield are shiny locked, meaning that you can not get the shiny version of them, unlike the previous games. So no matter how many times you try to soft reset the game, you definitely can not get the shiny version of the starter Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
Increase the Reroll Chance to Get Shiny Pokemon
Now thanks to a tweet from user: Kaphotics, we have the information about how you can increase your reroll chance on getting a shiny pokemon.
Basically from the table, to have the best chance of getting a shiny version of a particular pokemon (extra rerolls chance of 33% / Extra Rolls x6):
- First, you need to battle that particular pokemon 500 times. You can check the number battles on your pokedex at the “number battled” data.
- And then you need to have a chain count of 25, meaning that you need to battle and defeat that particular pokemon 25 times. Unfortunately, you can not check the data on this, so from the information that we have gathered, you just need to go to an area with that particular pokemon, and try to battle and defeat it 25 times. It is not clear on what makes the chain count reset back to zero, but try not to battle or encounter any other pokemon aside from the particular pokemon, plus try not to run from a battle of that particular pokemon.
